From Here Begins The Story Of

Renaissance Art
(1800-2020)

StoryLine:

The Renaissance has always been a very popular and appealing time period to study for art historians. This popularity brings to mind who were these art historians, when did they do the most work, did they study any other works other than the Renaissance, what were they, and more importantly, where is the best place to obtain this research information.

It has become apparent that the Renaissance was not always a favourite topic of research by art historians. There has been a decline in interest by the art historian of the Renaissance period, and in fact, at certain points of time, there were other artistic periods, and other aspects, such as focusing primarily on research of an artist, that captured the interest of art historians as well.

Research into Renaissance art has become an unpopular choice for art historians in our current time. We want art historians to understand the importance of continuing their work of this rich period of history. If the interest by art historians declines to non-existence in Renaissance art, our society runs of risk of losing one of the most valuable periods of artwork in our world history. Suddenly without any interest, the works become devalued and unimportant, and in turn, we do not place any importance on the conservation and protection of these important pieces of history.

There is still so much information out there that art historians could glean that has not been uncovered. For example, what is it about the interest in the Renaissance art that caused it to diminish in the 2020 decade, why were the art historians predominantly male, and why was the time period from 1950 to approximately 1980 showing the highest number of art historians researching the Renaissance. Further research needs to be done.
